Did you know that the County Council’s web-site www.northamptonshire.gov.uk regularly receives over 100,000 visits each month? This is up over 10% on this time last year.
The Council wants to keep reaching out to as many people as possible to use its site – so customers’ internet speed is critical to that. This is another reason why we need countywide access to superfast broadband.
The County Councils website has recently received the highest score for reviewer ratings in the “2012 Better Connected” publication. The purpose of Better connected is to identify good practice in the development of local authority websites. Please see http://www.socitm.net/betterconnected
Schools information is always popular, from jobs in schools, school directory, school term dates and school meals. Highways-related information is also regularly visited. This includes street doctor, bus maps and bus timetables.
The County Council is continuing to improve its site to make it easier to access services. This includes a new payment engine which will allow more services to put their transactions on-line e.g. the library shop, trading standards license forms, and enable on-line enrolment and payment for adult learning courses.
The County Council is also making a full version of its site available on any mobile browser and looking to create a customer portal – so people can sign-up to be kept informed of marketing campaigns, improvements to services, and updates to enquiries. The aim is to put as many transactions on its website as possible and keep customers informed.
