Availability Postcode Checkers
There is no single site to check broadband availability at your property and the comparison sites for broadband services may not pick up all internet service providers (ISPs) on all networks. It is worth taking a little time to find out more about what is available to you.
The Broadband Availability Checkers provide links to the main network providers in the county. Different ISPs will use these networks to provide broadband services. The Comparison Sites will compare some of the deals being offered by ISPs. If networks are not available in your area, you can find out more about mobile broadband availability by using the Ofcom availability checker and contacting the mobile network operators to find out more about the speed of services available.

Broadband Availability New Developments
New regulations came into force in December 2022 which mandate that when new homes are built, developers install gigabit-ready infrastructure and gigabit capable connections as part of the construction process. See The Building etc. (Amendment) (England) (No. 2) Regulations 2022 to find out more. There is a cost cap to the regulatory requirement which means in some cases although the gigabit-ready infrastructure is built, it may not be viable at that time to provide a service connection back to a live network or it may be that developers install the next fastest technology connection available within the cost cap threshold.
Be aware that some (not all) homebuilders apply exclusive broadband services or may not partner with mainstream networks such as Openreach, VirginMedia etc. If you’re buying a new or recently built home, check out broadband availability and ISP choice. For example, in some cases, FibreNest broadband may be the only service available on Persimmon Home developments.
